Mercedes is ready to offer consumers interesting new products in 2023. We offer you to figure out how the new models will look like (the first real photos), what modern technologies and options they will receive, and also how all this will affect car prices on the world…
Mercedes-Benz is one of the most recognizable and oldest automotive brands. The company was born in 1926 at the time of the merger of two German automakers – Benz & Cie (1883-1926) and Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft (1890-1926). It is one of the most recognizable automotive brands in the world….
Mercedes E class
Mercedes-Benz has been producing the E-Class since 1993, since then the model has changed generations several times. The current, fifth, appeared in 2017: such machines have the W213 index. Last year, the E-Class underwent a planned restyling: at the beginning of March 2020, the brand showed an updated sedan and wagon, and at the end of May, the “refreshed” coupe and convertible debuted. Well, now Mercedes-Benz is busy developing a new generation model. Mercedes-Benz E-Class of the new generation will be assigned the next index – W214. It is expected that the company will introduce a sedan in 2023, and the station wagon will appear about six months after the “four-door”. The last restyling of the model was quite serious, so you should not expect tangible changes in appearance: rather, the company will focus on the development of the current design line. According to preliminary data, the interior of the E-Class in the W214 version will be noticeably redesigned. There will be several large digital screens on the front panel, including a virtual instrument panel and a touchscreen of the MBUX multimedia system (probably, Hyperscreen, which is equipped with EQS, can also be optionally offered). The new E-Class is also likely to have Level 3 autopilot. According to the publication, the next Mercedes-Benz E-Class will be equipped with four-cylinder turbo engines, which at that time will be in the C-Class range. Gasoline, diesel engines, mild and plug-in hybrids are expected. It is possible that the latter will be able to drive up to 100 km purely on electric traction.
The GLC model was first introduced in 2015, it replaced the SUV with the designation GLK, the only generation of which was produced in 2008. In 2019, the crossover received a restyling, and now Mercedes-Benz is preparing for the premiere of an all-new GLC, the test samples of which have already been repeatedly spotted by photo spies. The new generation will receive an evolutionary makeover in line with the brand’s current style. A slightly larger grille will appear at the front, and the headlights will become slightly narrower. The mirrors are now located on the legs, the plastic of the sidewalls will also change: the characteristic stamping going from the front fenders to the rear doors will disappear, instead they will make a horizontal stamping above the rear wheel arches. The shape of the side glazing will also be slightly updated due to the ascending window sill line in the rear. As for the stern, there will be horizontal lights in the style of other new products from the company with an original pattern of LED marker lights. On the technical side, the novelty will largely overlap with the relatively recently introduced new generation C-class. The crossover will also get turbocharged 4-cylinder engines in hybrid versions (both mild and rechargeable). There will also be a powerful AMG version with an index of 63, by analogy with the C-class, it will be equipped with a hybrid installation with a 2-liter 4-cylinder engine, the total power of which can be about 600 hp.
Mercedes-Benz continues to test the updated C-Class sedan. Recently published photos have revealed the appearance of the German model. But now details about the technical equipment of the sedan have become known. Moreover, data about the most powerful version of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class 2023 got into the Network. It is reported that the German sedan in the maximum version of the 400e 4MATIC is equipped by default with a rear air suspension that automatically adjusts the shock absorber settings. The C-Class comes standard with a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that delivers up to 252 hp. useful power. Together with him, one 129-horsepower electric motor will be offered. The total output of such a hybrid reaches 381 hp. Included with it will offer a 9-speed “automatic” and a 25.4-kilowatt battery, which provides an electric power reserve of 94-114 kilometers. Note that, according to rumors, Mercedes-Benz will release an even more powerful version of the C-Class than presented. But its characteristics have not yet been disclosed. The updated Mercedes-Benz C-Class 400 e 4MATIC should go on sale in the first half of 2023. The exact prices for the German sedan have not yet been announced.
It became known that the German brand opened the acceptance of orders for the “medium” electric sedan in 2022. The manufacturer positions the novelty as “a new standard of luxury purely electric models.” The base EQE 350+ is equipped with a 90.6 kWh battery that provides a range of 660 km on a single WLTP charge. The power plant consists of a single 288 hp electric motor. and 530 Nm of torque. Acceleration to 100 km / h fits in 5.6 seconds, and the maximum speed reaches 210 kilometers per hour. Customers can personalize their EQE 350+ with AMG Line exterior and interior packages, Electric Art, Digital Light headlights, and optional rear thrusters. Competitor Tesla Model S will arrive in European car dealerships in mid-2022, but so far, future owners will be able to choose from only two trim levels: Mercedes-Benz EQE 350+; Mercedes-AMG EQE 43 4MATIC. Prices in Germany start at 70,626 euros (8.1 million rubles) and 103,827 euros (12 million rubles), respectively.
Prototypes of the Mercedes GLE 2023 were seen on the roads with a lot of camouflage on the body, and just the day before, another new photo was published on the Web, by which you can evaluate the interior of the new Mencedes GLE 2023. Outside, apparently, the main changes will affect the front. As with the “brothers” of the S-Class and E-Class, the head optics have become thinner, and besides this, most likely, the front bumper will also be redesigned. The disguise on the stern of the SUV is evidence that it will not remain unchanged. Those who were preparing for a big transformation in the GLE cabin will have to be disappointed, as even now it is clear that the crossover has received almost nothing new, except for the multifunction steering wheel. The cabin will still retain the combination of two digital screens for the instrument cluster and the MBUX infotainment system, each measuring 12.3 inches. The new 2023 GLE has a charging port hatch on the left fender, which confirms that the model will still be available with a plug-in hybrid setup. Recall that the Mercedes GLE PHEV sold in Europe is based on a 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engine, which interacts with an electric motor, and their total power is 320 hp. and 700 N * m of torque. Also in the depths of this version of the crossover is a battery pack with an energy capacity of 31.2 kWh, which provides a power reserve of 98 km without recharging.
Mercedes showed the Vision EQXX concept car, an electric car that they worked on for 1.5 years in collaboration with Formula 1 and Formula E teams. Ultimately, the company’s engineers solved one of the main problems of electric cars – range. In this regard, Vision EQXX offers a record 1000 km on a single charge. Vision EQXX is not a continuation of the serial EQS and EQE, but a separate original development. This is a full-fledged car (length almost 5 m, wheelbase 2800 mm) with a four-door body and a spacious interior. An electric motor with a power of about 200 hp is installed inside, which consumes less than 10 kWh per 100 km. For comparison, most electric vehicles are equipped with motors that consume about 20 kWh per 100 km. One of the key features of the novelty is aerodynamics. The company claims that the drag coefficient is only 0.18 Cx – mainly due to the special shape of the car with a long tail and narrowing towards the stern. The Vision EQXX weighs 1,750 kg using carbon fiber, fiberglass, aluminum and UBQ composite material. The overall weight is also affected by the battery, which is half the size and one third lighter than the production Mercedes EQS electric car. Its capacity is 100 kWh, but an additional solar panel is installed on the roof, adding 25 km to the cruising range. The accumulated energy does not go to the motor, but to power the secondary systems of the car.
Together with renowned fashion guru Virgilo Abloh, this rendition of the 2023 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class luxury sedan was developed. In total, a limited number of copies of the German car will be produced. Unlike the previously shown Maybach project, which was a concept created mainly for car shows, the new design version of the Maybach sedan, which was painted by Virgil Abloh himself, will be a production model that will be freely available from brand dealers in some countries. It will be based on the Maybach S-Class S version of the 2023 model year, and a total of 39 copies will be assembled. To create an incredible design for a luxury car, Mr. Abloh worked directly with Gorden Wagene, who is the chief designer of Mercedes-Benz. The car was finalized in 2021, before Abloh’s untimely death in November. Recall that the most budget version of the Maybach model costs about 16.7 million rubles today.
Mercedes-Benz E-Class next generation: new images
The German company continues to test the new generation of its bestseller, which regularly gets into the lens of photo spies. Thanks to the resulting photos, we have the opportunity to imagine what the car will look like.
The business class model in the Mercedes-Benz range first appeared in 1975, the car had a factory index W123. Officially, the history of the E-class began in 1993, when an updated version of the 124 body with a new name was introduced. Today, the fifth generation of the model (W213) is on the conveyor, the premiere of which took place in January 2016 at the International Auto Show in Detroit. In 2020, the E-Class received a noticeable restyling, and now the German automaker is preparing a new generation. What will it look like?
Renders are based on spy photos, so the proportions and dimensions of the body and its individual elements correspond to the real car. The grille will be slightly larger and lower than on the current model. The headlights will be made very large in size, unlike the new C-class, for example. One of the recent videos of the test unit partially shows the graphics of the LED lights: at the top there is a strip that also acts as a turn signal, and at the bottom there are a couple of small curved elements that can be considered a reference to some previous E-classes with four headlights. On the side, the novelty will differ markedly from the current sedan due to retractable door handles borrowed from the flagship S-class. The rear end will be inspired by the two aforementioned new sedans.
The interior is being significantly updated, where the main tone will be set by large multimedia screens. There is no reliable information about the technical part of the novelty yet, we can only assume that the E-class will receive a wide range of gasoline and diesel engines with varying degrees of electrification. There is also a possibility that the new top version with the 63rd index will not receive a V8 engine.
The premiere of new items may take place before the end of this year.
